Micky Beale has appealed to fabs going to Easter Road tomorrow to show their respect for former Hibs chairman Ron Gordon who recently dies from cancer at the age of 68.

A minute of applause before the recent Viaplay Cup Final was cut short as Beale’s supporters sang The Billy Boys to celebrate their hatred for Catholics.

Although that song was banned by the SFA in 2006 under pressure from UEFA no action has been taken despite the final being played 10 days ago.

Asked about tomorrow’s Easter Road tribute Beale told the Daily Mail:

I just think whenever there is a minute’s silence or minute’s applause, it is the respect for the family. The family of the person.

We can all relate to that, can’t we? Whether it is a minute’s applause or a minute’s silence, everybody should give it the same respect they would want for themselves.

Earlier Hibs announced:

Supporters will be able to pay their respects to our late Executive Chairman, Ronald J Gordon, at our home match against Rangers on Wednesday (7:45pm kick-off at Easter Road).

Ahead of kick-off, the Club will pay a special tribute to Ron, where supporters will be able to show their appreciation and remember him together. We’d encourage supporters to bring their scarves for this moment.

We urge all Hibernian FC supporters attending the match to arrive in their seats 15 minutes ahead of kick-off.

In the warm-ups ahead of the game, the Hibs team will wear special warm-up t-shirts with “May the sunshine of Leith, shine on you always Ron” on the front and “RIP Ronald J Gordon August 1954 – February 2023” on the back.

During the game, the Hibees will mark Ron’s age with the number 68 on their shorts, a commemorative message will also be printed onto our home shirt, and the players will don black armbands during the match.

The usual songs anti-Irish and anti-Catholic chants are expected from the away support. Twice in 2019 UEFA closed parts of Ibrox due to racist actions from supporters, no action has ever been taken by the SPFL, SFA, SPL or Scottish League for the weekly racism from Ibrox fans.

All away tickets tomorrow will be issued to Season Ticket holders with high MyGers points totals or complimentary tickers given to sponsors and players friends and families.
