Micky Beale has promised to produce a title winning side by the start of September.

The rookie Ibrox boss claimed that there was little wrong with the Europa League finalists that he inherited in November but has been sliding back from those thoughts ever since the Viaplay Cup Final defeat at Hampden.

Realising the quality that Ange Postecoglou has built up and the level of anger from loyal fans to losing to Celtic has come as a shock to Beale who fot that he was the cleverest geezer to ever come to Scottish football.

Another clash with Celtic is a month away but the fawning media coverage given to Beale pre-Hampden has been replaced by a more ominous narrative that the former QPR boss has taken on a job far bigger than he first fot it was.

Covering yesterday’s media conference Chris Jack of the Herald reports:

Beale issued a defiant answer of ‘100 per cent’ when asked if he could get Rangers back to where it needs to be after the summer and is confident he is on track to deliver silverware sooner rather than later.

Beale said: “I back the people I work with and I believe in this club and the work we’re going to go on. There’s work to be done but I 100 percent believe in it.

“When I came back in did I feel everything was going to be perfect between the back end of November and May? No.

“But in my first year as a manager what was I investing in? The future. I believe in it and where I’m taking it and the people I’m going to go on that journey with.

“I don’t see it as anything other than me being confident going forward. Am I slightly more aware now? Yes. Just because I’m sat in the seat. But has it made me any less confident? No.

You can only live every day. I can’t fast forward three months. I’m excited by this challenge as you can tell from my body language.”

If the gap is more than nine points after the next match against Celtic Beale will find more than Internet Bampots taking his claims to pieces.
