Play at Tynecastle yesterday was briefly halted as Joe Hart handed a missile over to Kevin Clancy.

The Celtic keeper was guarding the goal in front of the Gorgie Stand when the incident occurred early in the second half with the hoops leading 2-0 at the time.

Covering the incident, Football Scotland reports:

Joe Hart was caught on camera handing over what appeared to be a lighter thrown at him to referee Kevin Clancy in this afternoon’s win overĀ Hearts.

Viaplay TV cameras spotted the Celtic goalkeeper picking up the item before taking a goal kick at Tynecastle as he immediately ran to the whistler to bring it to his attention.

Clancy then took note before passing the item to his fourth official, David Munro. The incident happened just before the game hit the hour mark as Hart’s side led 2-0 through goals from Aaron Mooy and Kyogo.

Celtic players have regularly been targeted by missiles at Tynecastle, famously a fan appeared from the Main Stand to attack Neil Lennon in May 2011, as he was led away by Police Officers there were loud cheers around the stadium.

Hearts have recently allocated the front section of the Gorgie Stand to an Ultras group.

Just under a year ago Hart reported broken glass in his penalty box at Ibrox following the half time break. No action or comment was ever taken by the SFA or SPFL, questioned about it at last year’s AGM Michael Nicholson claimed that CCTV wasn’t working at the time.
