Micky Beale has claimed his comments about being ‘against the odds’ have been taken out of context.

On Thursday the Ibrox boss spoke to the broadcast media in an interview that is available on You Tube then had a separate conference with daily newspapers.

Quite often Beale will give conflicting accounts in those interviews with claims that players are playing for their futures mixed with quotes that decisions have been made on who will be staying for next season.

Speaking to the daily papers Beale was trying to play down expectations with claims about how much more money Celtic have to spend during the summer.

Celtic and budgets have been a recurring theme for Beale but on Radio Scotland today he provided another conflicting account of what he finks about fings.

Picking up on that the Rangers Review reports the former QPR boss saying:

Listen, I think that might have been taken out of context. We’re competing against the odds at the moment because we’re behind.

We’re behind in terms of me being a new manager coming in and clearly behind in the league. We’ve just lost a cup final to our biggest rivals so we have to turn the odds.

We’re competing against the odds, we’re not level pecking right now, that’s not how I got the job. So, we need to turn the odds, I’ve done it before, I was as part of the management team that done that, I’m fully confident we will do it again.

I’m not worried about the future in terms of the money we have got to spend or anything like that.

I made the comment that actually when we spent less we seem to get more sometimes.

I’m optimistic about the future and excited by it but I’m really disappointed by this week so it’s important we start to move forward quickly with the decisions we need to make.

Perhaps if £16m hadn’t been spent on Antonio Colak, Rabbi Matondo, Ben Davies and Ridvan Yilmaz last summer Beale would have a bigger budget.

With Tom Lawrence and John Souttar added to the wagebill the rookie boss will have to be very creative in the transfer market this summer.
