David Dickinson has had the final say on Celtic’s kit today- insisting that Ange Postecoglou’s side wear their grey/silver kit for the second time this season.

Ahead of any match it seems that there is some process that ensures that the match runs as smoothly as possible with kit clashes clearly one of those issues.

Back in September on a bright sunny day it was obvious from the kick-off that Celtic’s third kit was fairly similar to St Mirren’s black and white home kit.

Ange Postecoglou’s side had an off day, their worst domestic performance of 2022 but the kit was a factor somewhere in the performance, regularly we are told that football is often decided by small margins.

With the low angle of the television gantry at St Mirren’s stadium the spectacle isn’t good but it will be same again today when Celtic return to Paisley.

Looking at today’s match, Postecoglou told the Daily Record:

We are going to play in grey again. I don’t like it either but it is what it is, what people said on the day and what I thought was it is harder to distinguish between players than it would be if there was a clearer distinction between the strips. But it is the referee’s decision and we abide by the referee’s decision

The silver/grey kit was probably selected for commercial reasons in September, instantly it was clear there was an issue.

From his comments Postecoglou didn’t select grey/silver again today but appears to have been over-ruled by Dickinson.

For decades Celtic and St Mirren played each other wearing their home kits, traditional hoops playing against the stripes of the homeside would have been easier on the eyes than Dickinson’s choices for today.

Andrew Dallas is the VAR today with Euan Anderson the fourth official.

With this referees decision, it is impossible to think other than he wishes to make things as hard as possible for Celtic. What the hell is going on

Big Ange doesn’t say things off the cuff like other managers do, he is clearly throwing Dickheadson under the bus.

Even in amateur football ref’s don’t care about kit’s “so long as they don’t clash”……

Proof of the lengths the establishment officials will go to…. cmon the hoops, ram his ludicrous decision down his throat….

St Mirren will apparently play in their away strip today; all black I believe, so maybe there won’t be as much of a clash as anticipated.
