Switching from his Sky Sports and ITV hat into a Viaplay pay-day Ally McCoist announced that he wouldn’t be disappointed if VAR was never seen again.
All across the world there has been an increase in the accuracy of decisions- except for viewers in Scotland.
More than four years after VAR was introduced to the EPL the SPFL and SFA introduced the technology into the Scottish game in October.
From matchday one when Nick Walsh and Steven McLean contrived to keep Celtic’s win over Hearts down to 4-3 there has been some very obvious patterns.
Under VAR seven penalties have been awarded against Celtic. Ross County have been awarded more penalties at Celtic Park than at their home matches although their next fixture could see that change.
While the league leaders have lost seven goals from the penalty spot the team in second place haven’t had a penalty awarded against them in the SPFL since January 2021.
On a frequent basis the third party apologists come up with Goldson’s Law where they perform gymnastics to explain why this week’s handball shouldn’t be a penalty while very similar incidents result in penalty kicks and yellow cards for competitors.
Under Crawford Allan the shallow pool of refereeing talent has shrunk even further, on the pitch or watching on VAR incredible decisions are being taken but now fans can see clearly how one club is being propped up to create a title race.

It’s the refs that are the problem not the tech that works in every other league

VAR is not the problem, its the changing of the rules in every game. Jump in front of a ball with your hands up to block it and you get away with it. Someone hits a ball off your hand even if you are facing the other way and it’s a penalty! ?

Absolutely NOT!! Get refs full time and pay them. Then get as much VAR cameras etc that’s needed then train them on how to use the thing.
Don’t just throw it in the bit because the SFA half-arsed it.

Take aside anyone’s club allegiance, VAR has been an unmitigated disaster in Scotland. It’s an absolute shambles every single week. Our refs are incredibly poor.

VAR IS NOT the problem, it’s corrupt officials n the park and in the VAR room

It’s not the technology that’s the issue, it’s the people using it. Don’t scrap it, take the lessons from the issues and build better ways of implementing it

Not VAR it’s bad referees we need rid of
— mary (@marymccluskey1) March 20, 2023
VAR has just proved how poor our refs really are. Technically doesn’t make mistakes, people running it do
— Matthew Shaw ??????? (@Matt_Shaw31) March 20, 2023
How come there is only one team in the Scottish premier league who haven’t been negatively impacted by VAR?
— JohnnyL57 (@JohnnyL57) March 20, 2023
Amazing that we have technology costing a small fortune but people running it who are part time.

That’s very honest of Ally considering his team would likely be 20+ points behind the champions without VAR.

Ideological corruption within the Scottish game ensures how resources are used.
There’s only one team in the league that hasn’t been negatively impacted by VAR.
That in itself is worthy of investigation.
VAR should have reduced the level of corruption within Scottish football, but the opposite has actually happened which only has increased the creditabity of Scottish football.
If that’s not regarded as a Major problem within the game, I don’t know what is any longer.
VAR can only be classed as blatant cheating in the manner it is currently being used, even worse when technology still gives such wrong decisions still.
Interpretation of the rules of the game still remains upon a totally different level to football worldwide.
When the stats all points to how only one team benefits so hugely with the current situation and still try to claim of been hard done by it, tells everyone all you need to know about it.
Scottish football is quickly dying on its feet with only celtic able to restore any creditabity within the game with the brand of football we have introduced into the farcical nonsense on show on a weekly basis still
