Celtic made it 14 home SPFL wins in a row as they beat Hibs 3-1 ahead of the first international break of the year.

It was far from a routine win with a combination of events ensuring that there were 81 minutes on the clock before Celtic went in front.

Aaron Mooy was missing from Ange Postecoglou’s midfield but after 15 minutes Reo Hatate was off injured which left the hoops without 66% of their first choice midfield.

With Hibs time wasting from the first whistle and deploying every spoiling tactic imaginable it was tough going even though Elie Youan was sent off after 23 minutes for his second red card.

Stupidity from Carl Starfelt presented Hibs with a 39th minute penalty which Dean Campbell converted, the seventh of 22 goals lost by Celtic in the SPFL from the penalty spot.

Eight minutes were added at the end of the first half but it was seven minutes into the second half that Celtic equalised with Jota netting an unconvincing penalty after Cameron Carter-Vickers was dragged to the ground.

It took a further 31 minutes for Celtic to go in front but Oh Hyeon-gyu stood firm to head past David Marshall from a corner on the right.

In stoppage time Sead Haksabanovic put Celtic 3-1 in front with Ange Postecoglou having a fortnight to prepare for an away trip to Ross County as the run-in to the season gets properly underway.
