Craig McPherson joined Malky Thompson as assistant manager to the Ibrox ladies team in the summer of 2021.

If there is a grain of decency and leadership at the club he will be packing his bags tomorrow morning after being sacked for gross misconduct.

Tempers get heated on the park and on the touchline with coaches but no-one in football can justify McPherson’s actions after tonight’s SWPL Glasgow Derby at Broadwood.

Celtic’s last gasp winner was a sore blow for the Ibrox side to take but nothing can excuse or Justify McPherson’s post match action.

As Fran Alonso congratulated players from both sides McPherson approached the Celtic coach from behind and aimed a head-butt at a fellow coach.

Players and other coaches rushed in to calm the scene down, if Alonso had been as ill-disciplined as the Ibrox coach the post match scenes could have been much much worse.

McPherson is 51 years old, he knows the game, the emotions involved and has been an assistant manager at Morton and Dumbarton.

As far back as 2009 he was the Technical Director of Falkirk’s Academy, with that sort of experience he really should know when to draw the line.

Instead the Ibrox coach acted like a thug, if a fan had tried that they’d be facing action from Police Scotland.

Now the only question is over who acts first on McPherson, will it be his club, Police Scotland or the SFA?

In your piece you say he aimed a headbutt, there’s no aiming, he headbutted him, it’s on film with Sky Sports. If you’re going to call him out do it properly, there’s no dubiety on this, he’s guilty as sin. No doubt though it’ll come out that Tam Sellick’s Son will have doctored the live feed from Sky to make MacPherson look guilty.
