Ange Postecoglou has expressed his sympathy with Celtic fans angry over the scheduling of the post-split SPFL fixtures.

With two of the five fixtures due to be played at home there was a reasonable expectation that one of the first two fixtures would be played in front of 60,000 fans at Celtic Park.

Late this afternoon the fixtures came out with Celtic at home in matches three and five with the first two matches away from home at the stadiums with the lowest allocation of tickets for visiting supporters.

Only 1,400 Celtic fans will be at Tynecastle for the first post-split fixture with none at Ibrox a week later for the Glasgow Derby.

Asked about today’s announcement, Postecoglou told Celtic TV:

I would have liked to have had at least one home game in those first two because it means that our supporters won’t see us for three weeks. So, it would have been nice but ultimately it is what it is

Celtic were at home to Motherwell on April 22, their next home match will be on May 20 against St Mirren, following that Aberdeen finish the SPFL campaign at Celtic Park on May 27.

    Not surprised at those fixtures.

  • Sean McGinley says:

Teams like hearts have a transient bigot support. Celtic ought to wisen up. A few seasons without Celtic supporters at their shithole and they will be crying out for money, masters of their own downfall. Boycott these clubs. Celtic can play without our supporters at their grounds and it wont be for too long, when they will come crying.

He’s not complaining. However, I would like to see random fixtures to ensure fairness.

The SPFL have grudgingly accepted that we will be champions despite their best efforts , so this decision has been done out of spite, to ensure as few fans as possible actually se us clinching the trophy on the day.

Editor: The Celtic chairman is the biggest supporter of the SPFL CEO, they got very close in the summer of 2012.
