The tide has turned against Micky Beale after he set up a Celtic title party on Coronation weekend.

If the last dozen years on the inside of The Banter Years has been tough for loyal bears the prospect of a little bit of escapism and celebration on May 6 and 7 has now been wiped out by the smooth talking geezer from London.

For five months Mister Beale has been delivering soothing sound-bites, convincing the great and the good from Larkhall, Kilwinning, Bearsden and Bridgeton that he was the man to put Selik in their place.

Beale had apparently been the brains behind the freakish title success of 20/21 that no supporters witnessed, during three and a half years under Mister Gerrard he had developed a deep bond with the Tribute Act started by Charles Green in 2012.

Bears convinced them that in Todd Cantwell and Nico Raskin they had discovered the next two global superstars- until reality cruelly intervened.

Losing the Viaplay Cup Final was a jolt for some but promises of seeing a side built around the January signings mixed with a few routine home wins provided some hope. Until today.

The defeat to Aberdeen could have been a van Bronckhorst performance but the Dutchman had an appearance in the Europa League Final to guard him from criticism.

Now for Beale the talking stops, the chummy interviews on TalkSPORT and teasing with Instagram images.

The bears are getting restless and angry, they have watched the same serial losers for years and deep down know that Chris Sutton’s assessments are accurate.

Beale better start delivering on the park very soon or he will discover, just like Mark Warburton, Graeme Murty and van Bronckhorst that Glasgow is a very lonely city when the bears turn on you while Celtic fans laugh and await the inevitable exit of another failed Messiah.
