Beale’s anger over the ‘we’re terrible’ message that is eating him up

Micky Beale claims that there are critics that have labelled his side as terrible.

Apart from Celtic fans on social media there has barely been a word of criticism of the Ibrox side as they head into the Glasgow Derby on the back of ten successive wins in the SPFL.

With Celtic matching that run of success the gap at the top of the table remains at nine points with Ange Postecoglou’s side claiming the first trophy of the season with a Hampden success in the Viaplay Cup.

Since both sides appear to have mastered the rest of the SPFL there is growing significance place on the Derby- a fixture that Celtic have dominated over the last 14 months.

Two resounding home wins, 3-0 last February and 4-0 in September have set the narrative with Beale telling the Daily Record that his side’s successes aren’t being recognised:

I wasn’t involved in those (Last year’s heavy defeats). The big thing is that I’m the manager of a team that’s lost five out of the last 106 league games – but yet ‘we’re terrible’. We lost none of the last 15 and we’ve won 10 league games in a row, so we’re a good team. But we’re playing against a good team.

So it’s important that we execute what we’re good at, that we don’t overthink it, that we turn up and we play. I wasn’t involved in those games so the scars from those games are not sat with me right now.

With three of those five losses coming to Celtic Beale knows that he has to win tomorrow, another defeat and the lopsided Derby results will cast a shadow over his domination over the rest of the SPFL Premiership.
