John Beaton was a picture of misery at the final whistle in yesterday’s Glasgow Derby.
To be fair not many of the regulars at The Crown Bar in Bellshill had much to smile about yesterday.
Beaton had the relatively trivial task yesterday of Fourth Official duty, sorting out the substitutions and making sure that Micky Beale and his staff didn’t try to stick the nut in any of their opponents.
Where the extra five plus minutes came from during a second half without any injury breaks is something of a mystery but small beer compared to the succession of second half free-kicks that Kevin Clancy awarded to yesterday’s visitors.
Beaton did referee the January Derby at Ibrox and is probably favourite for the Scottish Cup semi-final in three weeks at Hampden, the SFA often select the Fourth Official with the intention of putting him in charge of the next Derby fixture.

Bealiola won’t be complaining about Clancy again, the amount of decisions he gave against Celtic were embarrassing…..
HH
Did you clock his boat at the end of the game ? I suspect deep down Beaton was desperate to do the old Edvard Munch masterpiece routine … The Scream ! Sorry ,I’m getting mixed up here … That’s Kenny Miller !
