Kyogo Furuhashi has been reliving his exploits in the Glasgow Derby and his ‘regret’ over not completing a hat-trick.

Goals in each half took his SPFL tally for the season to 22 as Celtic moved 12 points clear at the top of the table to compliment his double at Hampden in February that delivered the Viaplay Cup for the hoops.

Going into 2023 there were grumbles that the striker hadn’t scored in a Glasgow Derby but five goals in three matches have put Celtic in the driving seat to clean up with a domestic treble.

Despite very limited English there is an incredible rapport between the fans and the star striker who netted a hat-trick in his Celtic Park debut back in August 2021.

Other high scoring strikers have shown a greed to get among the goals but the former Vissel Kobe man is very much a team player, having a specific role under Ange Postecoglou with a growing understanding across his team-mates of the type of supply that he thrives on.

It is great we got the result that we wanted. I am glad we were able to win this difficult game with everyone united by the wonderful support of our supporters, and I happy I could score two goals in that game.

I am happy to score a goal like that in front of a big home crowd that makes everyone smile. The whole place was filled with our fans and I was able to feel the supporters cheering us on from the bottom of their hearts.

I am glad we were able to win and that came from the constant support of our supporters. I was hoping to get a shot at it if I had the chance (a hat-trick) but our priority is for the team to win.

Kyogo is a brilliant player! Fit as a fiddle and fast as lightning. He has sunk “The Rangers” for us; with his goals in the Derby and the Cup Final (twice) and the League. The guy is pure genius. They have no answer to his style.
He ghosts in between those big defenders and leaves them standing. They have no answer!
His finishing is magnificent! He is a great Celtic striker, through and through!
And he is getting better all the time.
Could never tire of watching him!
    Pure Brilliant and Pure Class!
