Liam Scales set up a Celtic title party on the weekend of May 6/7 with a stunning goal as Aberdeen beat Micky Beale’s side 2-0.

With five matches to be played Celtic have a 13 point lead at the top of the table, if they win their first post-split match the Ibrox side won’t be able to match their points tally.

Scales has been involved in some major disappointments during his loan season at Pittodrie but in the 48th minute he sent a brilliant diagonal shot high over Allan McGregor even if Andy Walker on duty for Sky Sports was unconvinced that the effort was intentional.

Seven minutes later Bojan Miovski headed past McGregor with the Ibrox side unable to come up with any response despite having half an hour still to play with Nick Walsh adding an extra eight minutes.

Scales put in a flawless performance on the left of a back three, although it isn’t a position that Ange Postecoglou plays it will give his confidence a massive boost.

Aberdeen go into the split five points clear of Aberdeen in third place knowing that if they retain that place they will have guaranteed European group football next season.

The SPFL are expected to announce the post split fixtures on Monday or Tuesday with Celtic dye to play two home matches, one of them against St Mirren.

what did beale mean when asked about next weeks game he replied it is a different type of game and different to referee ? live on sky sports , what does he mean by different to referee ?

  • Scud Missile says:

That’s goal of season no doubt about that, for Walker to say he thinks it’s a cross ball, never.

Apparently the second goal was offside so say radio shortbread so watch out for Crawford Allen being summoned to the shortbread studios to explain the refs the linesmen and the VAR decision not to cancel the goal.

Should sevco lose the semi-final next Beale will walk.
