McGowan goes back five years to dredge Celtic in with Scotland’s Shame

Stephen McGowan is the latest reporter to share his O** F*** horror at the follow-up from last Saturday’s Glasgow Derby.

Rather than identify specific issues it is far easier and more comforting to put it all down to the comforting O** F*** tag that most elements of the media take comfort under.

There are a few very specific sources of trouble that are easily identified starting with a manager who was briefed by a club employer that Jota had handled the ball in the build up to Celtic’s second goal.

It simply never happened. There was no suggestion of it during radio commentary or televising of the match. Not even the dreaded social media plagued by Internet Bampots came up with that fantasy till Beale and his captain brought it up in their post match interviews.

Seven days later Beale admitted that he had got that wrong, apparently he had viewed the ‘handball’ from a different angle, strangely he didn’t offer to share the angle that had uncovered the handball.

Getting on his high horse in the Daily Mail, McGowan writes:

When Rangers and Celtic make a song and dance over their gripes, the story grows arms and legs.

Every time they sound a dog whistle and ‘seek clarification’ from the SFA, the story runs for days on TV, radio phone-ins and newspapers. A pointless exercise, it achieves nothing.

Nothing, that is, beyond the appeasement of the angry fundamentalists who talk tough from behind a cloak of anonymity on fan forums. Or the acne-scarred young ultras who live for the next protest banner.

The guy above isn’t an acne-scarred ultra hiding on a fan forum, he’ll be in the media gantry at Ibrox today with one of McGowan’s Daily Mail colleagues, enjoying biscuits and small talk in the Media Room before asking Micky Beale some questions. Seven days on from broadcasting his views on the integrity of Kevin Clancy.

While the Ibrox regime pander to that element in their support McGowan goes back five years to even up his argument.

Some Celtic supporters will look at the events of this week and ask what all of this has to do with them.

Yet you only have to go back as far as 2018 — and a Rangers win in the derby — to find an example of the Parkhead hierarchy releasing a statement calling on the SFA to make referee John Beaton explain his contentious decisions publicly.

Beaton was the recipient of death threats and abuse back then as well.

Even this season, Celtic have publicly sought answers over a disallowed Jota goal at Motherwell.

The Motherwell incident went viral on Twitter the night of the match, a long distance image with squinty lines was used to justify the decision.

Reacting the SFA confirmed that a camera at the match hadn’t performed, they explained that the player was offside when he received the ball.

Perhaps is some reporters with media access grilled the authorities on these issues, on transparency there would be less debate rather than acting as good news messengers for Neil Doncaster and Ian Maxwell.

Celtic’s belated statement about Beaton came six days after the match. Alfredo Morelos had carried out three physical attacks on Celtic players without even a booking. There was no wolf-whistle from the club, it looks like they reacted to supporter anger and concern over attacks on players being carried out with immunity.

The Compliance Officer of the SFA didn’t feel the need to apply a Notice of Complaint, Beaton enjoyed a great night out in a local hospitality venue and remains on the circuit for refereeing the Glasgow Derby. He is very likely to get the Scottish Cup semi-final in two weeks time.

Over the last month there is one Glasgow club that has:

Had a coach head-butt an opponent

Had three players sent off in a Lowland League Derby

If McGowan wants an issue to get his teeth into he could look back a year and find a massive match-day glass bottle collection from Ibrox, Celtic players being hit by missiles after a match at Ibrox and a Celtic physio being disfigured by a glass bottle thrown by a corporate fan who was jailed.

Mysteriously glass appeared in the goalmouth to be defended by Joe Hart at half time while the Ibrox ground staff were repairing that area of the ground. The Police never spotted any missiles thrown from the Copland Road Stand during the break with Willie Collum holding up the start of the second half by five minutes to get the glass cleared.

No enquiry or action was taken by the SFA or SPFL. No comment was ever made by Maxwell or Doncaster.

Remember reading an excellent article in one of the Celtic Minded books in which the author, an Irish journalist, goes on to explain why the press and media in this country when criticising The Rangers they also have to criticise Celtic in the same article. He called it “The Mantra of Balance” where if you criticise them you must criticise us. Have seen this’Mantra’ on numerous occasions.

    SFA = sweet eff-all!
They are good for nothing and have done nothing to improve the game, because they are mindless, incompetent and lazy. All they look for is their free meals and drinks and an easy salary for doing SFA.

MC Gowan is primarily employed for his views by the Scottish daily Mail ,which is under the same ownership as the Record ,the Star and Express ! Can you see a common thread there ? Not only that ,but the Mail is as anti Scotland as you can read and also as right wing as Conservatism! What fries my arse is that there are plenty of Celtic fans out there who think MC Gowan is a Celtic friendly scoop … I’ve just given you proof of why he is not !

Editor: The Daily Mail has no connection to Reach Media who publish Daily Record/Star/Express. Their content however is aimed at the same market.

As I said before starve Maxwell the ALKIE and Doncaster the gypo and the rest of them at Hampden stop supporting the national team, and I really do hope we never reach another tournament ever again, the less money these Delboy Trotters characters get the better we will feel.

The pragmatic Occupational Psychologist will recognise instantly the game that McGowan is playing here.
Taking random events which have taken place over a specific period of time as examples, he could justify virtually anything he wants to, specifying these examples as incidents in case.
It is like an alchemist justifying his theory of everything, citing two or three things as examples, to prove that he is absolutely correct in all that he does.
But the world is educated now and people in general can spot these imposters more readily.
The days of lofty hacks dictating the path of human evolution have come and gone.
People can think for themselves now and McGowan and his jilted fellow proponents are lining up nicely on the shelf of Human Redundancy!
