Seven days after claiming that Kevin Clancy should have disallowed Celtic’s second goal in the Glasgow Derby, Michael Beale admitted that he got that call wrong.

There was no suggestion of handball on Sky Sports as they replayed the goal multiple times, it was bad defending from Ben Davies, perhaps good fortune from Jota and instinctive finishing from Kyogo Furuhashi that restored Celtic’s lead.

During the match Ally McCoist and Kris Boyd voiced their disgust at a ‘goal’ from Alfredo Morelos being disallowed for a push on Alastair Johnston. There was little attempt at understanding the decision, both players were jostling before Morelos applied a pull then push before the ball hit his leg and went into the back of the net. Clancy disallowed it immediately.

At some stage on Saturday someone decided to share personal contact details of the match referee.

On Monday the SFA released a statement about personal abuse and threats made to Clancy and his family, the issue was being dealt with by Police Scotland. There was condemnation across the board from pundits and most media outlets about that development.

On Saturday evening Nico Raskin’s official sponsor had made some very direct comments about Clancy. So far there has been no comment from his club about their disgust at the comments of a sponsor and media partner.

To me the game was done. I disagree with one decision, I got it wrong on another because on the angle I saw I thought it hit the boy’s arm.

It hadn’t so fair play, but I still think the first decision was the wrong one. It is up for debate but the game has gone. We are not going to be able to change the result of the game.

I don’t know the facts, but if Kevin has been getting abuse, it is not something that we accept in football and it is something as a club that we condemn and we are not happy with.

Tomorrow Beale’s club will almost certainly be handing media facilities to someone who made it very clear to their followers what they feel about Clany’s integrity. Heart & Hand has 80,000 Twitter followers, clearly the Ibrox club are comfortable with the content that they produce and share.

That club and clingers-on are on the road of incitement. They see team officials getting away with assault, a media that panders to base instincts whilst concealing uncomfortable facts and think nothing of endangering those they perceive as getting in their most righteous way. Are they the only club in the world of football that declares it cannot guarantee the safety and security of visitors ?
