Rob McLean is the latest reporter to discover that Ange Postecoglou is never off guard.

In almost two years of interviews and media conferences it is difficult to recall an uncomfortable moment for the Celtic boss.

Various questioning routes have been taken to drag Postecoglou into some media inspired controversy but the Celtic boss has an entirely different set of priorities.

Reacting to comments from other managers to create a war of words is a favourite ploy of reporters but is usually met with a wry smile, shake of the head or shrugged shoulders from the experienced Australian.

MacLean tried to humour Postecoglou with pie talk but ended up on his heels, retreating from the sharp reply of the hoops boss.

The Glasgow Times reports:

After referring to South Korea coach Jürgen Klinsmann’s attendance the game, the veteran broadcaster attempted to link the German to a question about whether Postecoglou had yet tried the famous Kilmarnock pie.

Postecoglou’s short response had MacLean scrambling to clarify in a mirth-inducing piece of radio.

MacLean said: “He doesn’t look like a Killie pie man, I don’t know if he’s sampled it yet. Have you sampled yours yet?”

Postecoglou replied with deadpan delivery: “So you’re saying I do look like a Killie pie man?”

MacLean, clearly concerned, flapped: “No, not at all. I didn’t say that, don’t take me out of context now!”

A laughing Postecoglou replied: “Okay, alright. Well, I did say I was going to try one so…”

Postecoglou will be batting them aside again at Friday’s media conference.

In the interview ,Ange also described the game as outstanding in the first half and sloppy in the second ! Yet McLean looking for a headline ,put it to the boss ‘so are you saying you were disappointed !’ Ange corrected the rabbler scoop saying he never said that word . They are all at it with Celtic and Ange … The problem being is that Ange is triple wide for the entire cabal !
