Micky Beale has warned his stars that next season’s squad will be completely different.
Ryan Kent, Ryan Jack and Alfredo Morelos are out of contract and playing regularly, at 41 there are no guarantees that Allan McGregor will put himself through another pre-season of conditioning.
With John Lundstram and Borna Barisic about to go into the final year of their contracts there is a lot of uncertainty in the current squad who have looked on at the hero worship lavished on Todd Cantwell, Nico Raskin and Malik Tillman.
Beale is expecting to bring in at least five first team starters with the clock ticking down on the departure of many of his current regulars.
The Daily Record reports the Ibrox boss saying:
The last time we lost in the league was the first week in November. We’re now into April, it’s been a long time, 20 weeks of good form in the league, we just need to keep repeating it.
I don’t care if we don’t get any praise from outside, I’ve got to see the progress inside. I’ll judge us on the next game but listen I know this group is going to be completely different in 10 games’ time, but I can’t deal with pre-season until this season is done.
A five week break for the World Cup is included in Beale’s 20 weeks of good form in the league.
After taking over in November Beale told the Daily Record:
This team is not as broken as people think. If people think that outside then the only people can change that is the people inside.
We have got to go out now, there is no time to wait. If people aren’t all in they can go to one side, and the people that are, I will move forward with those.
It seems that despite 20 weeks of outstanding league form Beale now believes that the squad is broken, or he is wanting to distance himself from the squad that was largely brought together while he was laying out bibs and cones for Gary McAllister.

Hang onto Celtic’s coat-tails and pretend that you are a big Club.
He didn’t actually say that, surely?
Just day’s before a Glasgow derby and he tells half his 1st team that NO MATTER the result they won’t be at Ibrox in a few games time.
His return to coaching won’t be far behind, never a manager in a million years….
