Another editor would have held his hands up and said ‘Wooooooooooo there, too far’ but at Football Scotland, the digital cousin of the Daily Record that sort of scoop is encouraged. Go find me more of the same.
In terms of interaction, pageviews and sessions it was perfect. The story gave a reassuring glow to the traditional Record audience while Internet Bampots shared it far and wide while wondering if it was a parody report. No, it is 100% Football Scotland, the future for Reach Media.
While searching for similar drivel the story was shared again on Twitter, no doubt it will attract plenty of traffic but it seems that credibility doesn’t matter at Football Scotland.
