A week on Sunday Willie Collum will almost certainly be in charge of the all-Glasgow Scottish Cup semi-final.
The Lanarkshire based official is the most experienced referee on the circuit but longevity doesn’t equate with ability.
Collum’s first experience of a Glasgow Derby came in October 2010, in advance of the match much was made in the media about his job as a Religious Eduction teacher at Cardinal Newman School in Bellshill.
With that sort of profile the outcome of the match was inevitable with Collum playing his joker card.
Worth mentioning the context – this was the week after Dougie-Dougie.

As Dan Majstorovic moved to challenge Kirk Broadfoot Collum had his back to the ball- in the penalty box! Getting too close to the ball has always been a problem for Collum but he corrected that by automatically pointing to the penalty spot for an incident that he didn’t see.
After that his place at the top of Scottish football was assured- with upcoming officials getting a template of what is expected if they are to reach the top and pick up lucrative foreign appointments.
Kirk Broadfoot is clever, words I thought I would never see in the same sentence.
