The Micky Beale Revolution is set to move up a gear with Ryan Jack reported to be close to signing a new deal.

The former Aberdeen starlet moved to Ibrox in the summer of 2017 and has started just 98 SPFL matches in his six years with the club, Jacko hasn’t played since picking up a knock in the 3-2 defeat from Celtic on April 8.

Despite having an unrestricted budget The Sun last night reported:

RYAN JACK is close to agreeing a one-year deal with Rangers. SunSport understands the midfielder is on the verge of penning a contract extension until next summer.

He has made 35 appearances this season — scoring two goals — and Michael Beale is eager to keep him as part of his squad.

The Ibrox gaffer is planning a major rebuild in a bid to challenge champions Celtic and sees Jack as part of his plans as an experienced squad player.

Talks have progressed well in recent weeks with an agreement set to be rubber-stamped.

Jack attracted attention from clubs north and south of the border with his future up for grabs.

Tellingly there is no mention of the other clubs although a move to Hearts at some stage in his career is likely. Of his 35 appearances this season just 16 have been starting matches in the SPFL.

With Todd Cantwell, Ianis Hagi, Nico Raskin, John Lundstram and Glen Kamara all under contract, a new deal for Jack makes a permanent move for Malik Tillman increasingly unlikely.

Kieran Dowell is expected to move to Ibrox in the summer as a free agent.

Ryan Jack, Alfredo Morelos, Scot Arfield, Steve Davis, Allan McGregor and Filip Helander are also out of contract at the end of this month.

  • Davie says:

Why not just keep the whole team of Serial Losers.
No need to spend that massive £5million war chest.
That money can pay off some director loans & keep the lights on for a couple of months.
Coupled with the amount of pies saved with Alfredo moving on.
