Matt O’Riley has revealed how Don Robertson virtually laughed off a foul during Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final.

Cutting in towards the penalty box the Celtic midfielder was body checked by Nico Raskin, it was such an obvious free-kick that five opponents virtually stopped playing anticipating an obvious free kick.

Daizen Maeda played to the whistle, claimed the ball then delivered the cross that Jota headed into the net for the only goal of the game.

It was all over within 10 seconds of O’Riley being fouled, speaking to the Glasgow Times the midfielder said:

It was definitely a foul. I was appealing for it and the ref told me it probably was a foul when I walked past him but he said: ‘If I’d given the foul then you guys wouldn’t have scored’ and I was like: ‘Yeah, fair enough!’

It seems a fairly glib comment from Robertson, shrugging off his own error three minutes from half-time in a very dangerous area of the pitch with the match goal-less.

Very few players have the reactions of Maeda, with the ball in the net that decision escaped scrutiny in the post match discussions.

Error? This was no error! It’s actually a blatant admission of his deliberate refusal to penalize the new club for a certain free kick and probable booking, all because it would have been in a dangerous sone for his club to concede!
Robertson is a bigotted, cheating scumbag who thought he was doing his team a favour!
Make no mistake, he was NOT about to call it back if we hadn’t won the ball! He had already indicated for play to continue with four of HIS team closer to the ball! He just hadn’t considered Daizen Maeda being first to the ball to cross for Jota! Don’t kid yourselves, he was NOT waiting to let us plY the advantage! The ball position did NOT favour us!

Makes up for the blatant vRED card he was too scared to show that animal Lundstrom ,bit of hurlock animal instinct about him

Regardless of it being a foul or not this shows you should always play to the whistle. Shambolic defending then followed with Tavernier allowing Jota a free run and header. He will never score an easier goal than this with his head. Why oh why did Tavernier not match his run and at the very least jump with Jota to make it as difficult for him as possible. The answer is of course they do not man mark their opponents but mark spaces instead using zonal marking. This has been happening all season yet they do nothing to avoid what is frankly embarassing defending
