SBI Soccer are claiming that Cameron Carter-Vickers is facing a three to four month lay off.

The American website appears to have a source very close to the player with their details on his loan and permanent move to Celtic being accurately predicted.

Carter-Vickers signed off for the season with an outstanding display at Hampden on Sunday with Ange Postecoglou announcing after the match that surgery will be required.

At the outside four months runs into next season but the timeline doesn’t specify if the period discussed is before playing again or just resuming full training.

SBI report:

Cameron Carter-Vickers’ second season with Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic has come to an early end and the American defender isn’t expected to be back in action anytime soon.

Carter-Vickers is set to miss 3-4 months following knee surgery, a source close to the player confirmed to SBI. Carter-Vickers had been fighting through a knee injury during the second half of the season and was expected to head for surgery following Sunday’s Scottish Cup semifinal match, a source confirmed.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou ruled Carter-Vickers out of the club’s final six matches of the season, which includes a Scottish Cup Final vs. Inverness CT later this month. The USMNT defender’s final appearance of the season came on Sunday as Celtic edged Glasgow rivals Rangers 1-0 at Hampden Park on Sunday.

Yuki Kobayashi is expected to come into the Celtic defence with Carl Starfelt switching inside to take over from Carter-Vickers on the right of the central defence.

Despite clearly playing under restrictions there was nothing lacking in the American’s performance at Hampden but he’ll be watching the June 3 final against Inverness Caley Thistle from the stand.
