Carl Starfelt has revealed how the Celtic squad insulated themselves from the media criticism of going three matches without a win.
A run of 31 wins, two draws and a single defeat delivered the SPFL title at Tynecastle but losing a dead rubber transferred the bragging rights across the city according to Sky Sports.
That message was quickly taken up by failed managers like Kenny Miller and Ally McCoist as they speculated over how close the two sides are after the Michael Beale Trophy went to Ibrox alongside the usual promises of a better tomorrow.
The hysteria peaked after Celtic lost 4-2 away to Hibs with some pundits starting to gain hope that Inverness Caley Thistle could deny Celtic a treble.
A 5-0 win over Aberdeen put that panic in context with Starfelt telling The Scotsman how Celtic treat their critics:

On Saturday Celtic can ‘salvage’ something from a s**t season by lifting the Scottish Cup in front of 45,000 of their own fans at Hampden.

Once a league is won many teams take it easy, Celtic did just that.
Nothing wrong with doing the business then easing off.
Any team bragging about one meaningless match has only let their fans down by failing to do the business which they are paid for.
Celtic achieved their business plan for the season by winning the league, league cup is a bonus, being in the final of the Scottish Cup is another bonus.
The Rangers get all the trophies no one else wants.
Didn’t win league.
Didn’t win league cup.
Didn’t win scottish cup.
Won worst ever team in Europe cup.
Won we never performed cup.
Won we lost a fortune in assets cup.
Won we brag a load of guff cup.
Now that’s a s**t season to remember.
If celtic get past Inverness caley on Saturday and win the Scottish Cup, what an awful season that would be, don’t want to remember that.

Remember here in wee Scotland that the MSM have a higher regard for failure than success , especially when their pet subject is concerned ! It’s like Celtic on the cusp of a domestic treble are being denigrated at every opportunity from the posse , whilst the Rangers who failed in every single competition entered this season are being celebrated in advance for their glorious exploits next season in advance …. Looks like the confetti will come in handy after all ,I suppose !
