Kyogo Furuhashi has been confirmed as this season’s top scorer in the SPFL Premiership.

The hoops striker scored twice against Aberdeen on Saturday to take his total for the season to 27 but the prolific Kevin van Veen went into his side’s match at home to Dundee United today with 24 to his name including goals in each of Motherwell’s last 10 SPFL matches.

The Dutchman took only five minutes to score against Dundee United today to take him onto 25 with 85 minutes left to play.

It has been an incredible season for the former Scunthorpe striker but he had to settle on 25 for the season as his side won 3-2 with United suffering automatic relegation to the Championship.

Kilmarnock’s 3-1 win over Ross County secures their Premiership place with Malky Mackay’s side facing Partick Thistle in a Play Off for the final place in next season’s top division.

Kyogo has been voted Player of the Year by PFA Scotland, the SPFL and the Scottish Football Writers as well as picking up three awards from Celtic.
