Nico Raskin has revealed that he is using Ibrox as a stepping stone to playing for Chelsea.

The chubby midfielder certainly isn’t short on ambition but he’ll need to start playing in Scotland if he is to escape from Ibrox. Team-mates Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and James Tavernier have discovered that playing at Ibrox can make you invisible to the outside world.

Raskin set up Celtic’s winning goal in Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final but appears to have recovered from that with an interview in Belgium outlining his career ambitions.

Picking up on that The Sun reports:

My ultimate dream is to play in the Premier League with Chelsea. Playing in Scotland struck me as a good intermediate step. But Rangers are still a big name in British football.

Before they came in for me, I had approaches from Club Brugge and Genk. But I think it would be a mistake for me to play for another club in Belgium, as Standard will always be the club I love most.

Other clubs were interested in me as well, but Rangers’ interest was the strongest.

Raskin was substituted by Rabbi Matondo after 74 minutes at Hampden.
