The organisers of the Sydney Super Cup have taken their claim for breach of contract against the Ibrox Tribute Act to the Federal Court of Australia.
In March 2022 James Bisgrove signed up to a support role in Ange’s Home Coming Tour explaining that participation would bring in the equivalent of a season’s worth of SPFL Premiership prize money.
After some furious fan reactions that stopped matches, to the annoyance of Allan McGregor, the club announced that they were pulling out of the trip.
It seems that there has been very little contact with the organisers of the event who called in Everton as a replacement.
Celtic and Everton played in front of 40,000 fans in Sydney while the Ibrox club stayed at home during the World Cup break.
Now they have to defend their actions in court although one solution would be to play a couple of matches in Sydney in January 2024 at their own cost.

James Bisgrove on Sydney Cup: “The participation in this event over eight days will benefit the club to the same level as an entire season in the SPFL Premiership for two friendly games”

Sydney Super Cup will benefit Rangers to same level as entire SPFL Premiership season, says James Bisgrovehttps://t.co/gcmvjtNdRb

The only response from @RangersFC to the negativity around our participation in the Sydney Cup has been the ‘rabbit caught in headlights’ interview from James Bisgrove. Really amateurish PR from the club’s board.

The gift that keeps giving. 😀
So much money to throw away, same with the out of contract players.
Such magnificent business from directors who are more interested in bitterness than business sense.
Between Sydney cup compensation & soon elite sports compensation can ibrox pay the wages bill.
Cutting your nose off to spite your face. Hope they get skelped for plenty. Another nail in the coffin.
