It was one of the most inspired social media clips in the history of Scottish football.

With a largely unknown manager in charge of a squad reduced to a shell Ange Postecoglou took to the training pitches at Lennoxtown on his own, accompanied only by confidence and self belief.

Daizen Maeda had been left behind at Yokohama F Marinos while Jota considered life post-Benfica after an indifferent Lockdown season on loan at Valladolid.

Yesterday at Hampden it all came together perfectly for Celtic with referee Don Robertson playing an unexpected support role.

While most of Hampden paused awaiting a free kick for Nico Raskin body-checking Matt O’Riley two players stayed fully alert.

Maeda got in ahead of three hesitant defenders, took one touch then without thinking slung in the perfect ball across goal.

It could have been Liel Abada or Sead Haksabanovic but on this case it was Jota racing in behind James Tavernier to head home the only goal of the game.

The simplicity was fantastic but it takes sessions and sessions on the training ground to create the sort of magic moment enjoyed yesterday at Hampden.
