Celtic’s decision to ban BBC Scotland from access to Brendan Rodgers’ media conference was caused ‘by a number of issues’.
Normally a big hitter from the state broadcaster would be asking some of the opening questions at such an event but it was left to Mark Benstead of Sky Sports to fire the opening questions.
BBC Scotland provided a live blog of the media conference but revealed that they weren’t there in person, reporting from the feed provided on Celtic’s You Tube channel.
No real detail emerged about the stand-off but after discussing PLZ Soccer being denied access The Sun reported:
The specific source of each stand-off is unclear but Celtic say they have raised a “number of issues” with the Beeb – and talks are ongoing to find a resolution.
A spokesman from Pacific Quay said: “We’re sorry that Celtic did not allow us to access today’s media event. We are in discussions with the club in an effort to resolve the situation.”
A spokesperson for Celtic explained: “We have raised a number of issues with the broadcaster which have yet to be addressed.”
PLZ Soccer and BBC Scotland both provided extensive coverage of Rodgers’ media conference but strictly as outsiders looking in.
The issue with PLZ Soccer is no big deal but with the SPFL having a contract with BBC Scotland that includes exclusive pre and post match interviews with managers there could be issues once the domestic season gets underway on August 5/6.

Bbc having been anti Celtic F.C their coverage of games in there highlight programmes says it all never shows some poor tackles or bad decisions on highlights never comments on the bad calls by refs there quests if ur not gay.black or anti Celtic then you wont get on there political correction well over the top

Firstly, gut the British Bias Corporation of its ex Ibrox employees. We pay our licence fee every year so we have a right to complain about the bias. Secondly, flood the complaints department with complaints in regard to this bias and its about time we used this avenue. Regards the Scottish papers especially three tops don’t buy them. Lastly, the Celtic board must take on the referee problem, if they do not change bring legal action against them we have the evidence each and every week on video of its bias. Who do they have there anyway from a Celtic persuasion – Simon Donnelly on TV now and again (We know Scott Allen ain’t a Hoops fan ) even though I admire his balls for signing for us and pissing off all The Sevco Huns… As for the radio channel – I’ve not listened for ages, though I missed the bus to the pub at the Scottish Cup Semi Final and they sounded as if they wanted to vomit knowing Inverness Caley had to play the winning Hoops ! – It was a listening of beauty indeed !
A good buddy tells me it’s only Packie Bonner on their radio channel amongst a bunch of rabid Huns and Sevco fans and ex players and that it’s rancid listening every time…
