The intrepid cheer-leaders at The Rangers Review went the extra mile yesterday as they applied top spin to the conclusion of the Malik Tillman story.
To anyone with the slightest grasp of football the issue was fairly clear. The player had no interest in a permanent move to Ibrox while finding £5.8m and a bumper salary was about £5m over Micky Beale’s budget.
Letting the story gently slip away would have been the sensible thing but they can’t be seen doing that at Ibrox.
For more than a decade Celtic have been selling players for a decent profit and occasionally picking up a further boost with a sell on fee.
If Celtic can do it then at Ibrox they can do it with bells and whistles, or flutes and drums. Add-ons are routinely quoted in transfer fees such as the £10m windfall for Joe Aribo which is actually £6m with the player flopping in the EPL as the Saints were relegated.
Tillman was part of the Player Trading Model, stopping off at Ibrox for a year or two before joining a top five club for more than Celtic have ever picked up for a player.
At the Rangers Review, part of the Newsquest Group alongside the Herald, Glasgow Times and The Celtic Way, managed to uncover the most incredible loan details. If there was any hint of truth in it Ross Wilson should instantly be installed as the Chancellor of the Exchequer or Governor of the Bank of England!
Apparently Bayern are going to pay out £1m for unilaterally pulling out of the Tillman deal- as an extra sweetener 10% of the transfer fee will be winging its way into Micky Beale’s war-chest.

Coming soon the lads at the Rangers Review will reveal the impressive pay out from the Sydney Cup organisers, this package was arranged by James Bisgrove rather than Ross Wilson.
As big DONALD would cal it out FAKE NEWS.
Clubs would be going BANKRUPT if this was how loans turned out.
Lol remember the £100 million stories doing the rounds while throwing CONFETTI shares about the place to get to the end of the season.
Utter nonsense, never heard anything like it. You are supposed to pay the parent club not the other way around. Tillman wasn’t interested in playing permanently for them, neither could they afford him. Can’t believe 6pm stv news ran with this story last night, so much for there journalistic skills
I’m afraid the part truth is that this summer they’d be better calling it – The Rangers Respew, cos spew is all they’ll do with Brendan back…
And I said part truth as I now refer to them as Sevco !
Bullshit must be listening to Freddie Mercury’s liar
