Friday looks like being a very dark day for Celtic fans.

SPFL Premiership fixtures will be published but casting a giant shadow over that event is the release of the 23/24 home kit from Adidas.

A stylish and sleek dark grey with black trim away kit was released last week to acclaim which will no doubt be reflected in first week sales.

There barely seems to be any compliments being directed at the leaked home kit which looks like it has been selected from a Primary School art competition.

Jaggy lines replace the classic hoops with bizarre shaping through the hoops is topped off by three black stripes down the shoulders, a black Adidas log next to the golden logo of Dafabet.

Over the last month fans have been hoping that the leaks were simply scare stories, wind-ups ahead of the long awaited classic Adidas home kit that supporters have been waiting on.

Kits often get a negative reaction when first released before fans are won around as they see it in person or from a distance on players.

Friday’s kit will require an incredible turnaround in public opinion as Adidas discover that there is a line drawn by fans over what they are prepared to pay money to be seen in.

I was severely critical of last seasons home kit. Now this monstrosity, give Adidas back their € and tell them to FO. Let’s get back to the hoops that I’ve watched since 1950 until recently, Adidas are defacing our jerseys, are there no balls in our executive who can pull the plug on this shit. Let’s have the shirt of the greatest day in our fabled history 25/5/1967

Don’t buy it , celtic + Adidas will soon get the message

  • Seppington says:

I could tolerate the “stained glass” pattern on the hoops but not the jaggy edges. And the black trim just makes it look more like a Sporting Lisbon jersey to me. Last season’s home shirt never really grew on me, this definitely won’t. Utterly honkin’.

Aslo, the pic of the Umbro tops there; why not do a tribute to the 1985-87 pre-centenary one in the middle Adidas ripped Umbro right off with that collar, it was on the Liverpool strips and others within a coupe of years….

Shows what people know, or should I say don’t know. No fan consultation! Well sorry! The designer and his whole family are Celtic supporters through and through, whether people like it or not is totally up to the individual. We shall see. HH

Then he should have feckin known better.
It’s an absolute monstrosity with no redeeming features.
It’s not old fashioned to be traditionalists. The iconic Green and White Hoops are part and parcel of our identity. You can tweak it, you can embellish it,
but under no circumstances can you be permitted desecrate it.
Especially in the pursuit of Corporate Greed. There is no justification for a new design plus third and fourth strips every season. Getting as bad as the ritual fleecing of the deluded at the DebtDome.
