For a couple of minutes Neil McCann stood alongside Ange Postecoglou on the BBC Scotland podium at Hampden.

The state broadcaster seemed embarrassed to be covering yesterday’s match, demanding that the kick-off is put back to concentrate on events at Wembley then being denied extra-time in London which meant that the Hampden match was shown on BBC One Scotland and not shunted onto the digital station BBC Scotland which barely attracts 30,000 viewers for their flagship news show- The Nine.

Steven ‘lump of wid’ Thompson is still trying to understand what broadcasting is about, put into a live setting and presented with Postecoglou the former St Mirren striker utterly melted, fluffing his way through a few predictable questions, asking about Spurs and running a mile from the answer.

Rarely has it been so obvious that a presenter was reading out questions and comments written by someone else. McCann opted not to intervene and ask a question.

Fooling no-one as he tried to play the likeable neutral McCann had lots of qualified praise for Celtic’s display but couldn’t hide from his excitement over the possible departure of Postecoglou.

Last weekend of Sportscene he was joking with his EBT pal Thommo about how good it will be if Scottish football loses its greatest talent.

Tuning in to Sportscene from Hampden, Football Scotland reports McCann saying:

I think they (the fans) could be disappointed. I think this will be Ange’s last game in charge and if it is to be that, what a wonderful way to go.

He’s a guy who can go down there (to Tottenham) on his own because he won’t need to take a big staff with him. I think Ange is so bullish in own ideas and how he wants to implement that, that he’ll go there and make his mark immediately.

He’s now suddenly going into a realm of a different stratosphere in terms of finances if he takes a job like Spurs. Best stadium in the world, amazing training facilities and a transfer budget he can absolutely smash it and show how good he is in that environment.

Following the 1999 Scottish Cup Final McCann attended a post match party with his mate Donald Findlay.

What about the debt at Spurs. Is anyone telling Ange about that. Cost a fortune to build the best stadium in the world as its being quoted to be here.

  • Scud Missile says:

Should Ange depart the scene it will be the cheap option again, possibly Kennedy getting the gig or should he get ignored by Liewell don’t be surprised to see our own ALKIE version of John Brown in Lennon’s return.
Remember LIEWELL is back and if Ange is away LIEWELL will have his feet right under that table, and we will be shopping once again the same as sevco in the BARGAIN BASEMENT for players he is picking, and we will be back to that biscuit tin mentality looked upon as a nickel&dime club and a laughing stock.

    • Seppington says:

First thing I said was Lawwell will be saying “Neil Lennon doesn’t have a gig at the moment…hmm…”

Surely the board won’t be so stupid a third time?

      • Scud Missile says:

Take your pick Kennedy or Lennon it’s one of them,or perhaps both.
Kennedy trying to keep the revival Ange bandwagon on the road with Lennon in tow as a 2 pronged attack.

  • Eldraco says:

Most likely Rodgers will be approached.

Since when did Desmond or lawell give a fuck about what fans will think.

Well, McCann and Thomson are a couple of half-wits the two of them. Together them provide a totally biased and untruthful view on Scottish football!
Between them, they have had so many jobs their heads are still twirling. They know a little about everyfing and a lot about nuffing!
To take either of them seriously is like putting all your weapons of defence into the hands of young children. It really is as simple as that!
Oh, and they are both Huns as well!
