John Hartson would prioritise two key areas of the park if he was in charge of Celtic’s recruitment.

Last summer Ange Postecoglou spent the best part of £20m on Cameron-Carter-Vickers, Jota, Alexandro Bernabei and Sead Haksabanovic.

There are suggestions that Brendan Rodgers has £30m to spend on the treble winning squad this summer as he looks to make an impact on Europe as well as sweeping up domestic trophies.

Spending wisely from a position of strength is recognised as a smart way to invest with all eyes on Rodgers who approved the deal for Odin Thiago Holm as his first signing.

Bigger deals than the 20-year-old Norwegian are expected to be completed with Hartson having a very clear idea where Celtic need to spend and strengthen.

The Welshman told the Daily Record:

We’ve not seen enough of Hyeongyu Oh but in Kyogo Celtic have a world class striker but I’d still be looking for another centre forward. They are not cheap but strikers take you up the league tables and win the trophies.

I’d also be looking at central defence Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt have got better as a pairing but I still think they are vulnerable to crosses into the box.

Central defence and centre forward, that’s where I’d be looking and if there is £30 million then I’d be looking at real quality. You need that type of quality when you go into the Champions League and take things to that next level.

The random factor is the real prospect that realistic offers come in for some of the players that won the treble.

In the first half of the season Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis were key figures for Postecoglou but when offers came in in January they were sold with replacements slotted in with Alastair Johnston signed up a few weeks before Juranovic was sold.

Please stop with the £30 million transfer budget, this is a Scottish media narrative, & they will use it if that amount is not spent in this window, to drive a wedge between us all

Yip – An excellent post Micheal ! – Nobody knows the exact budget least of all The scummy Scottish Football writers and as you say they’ll use it as a dividing wedge…

No Celtic fan should pay one second far less minute to what blatant lies they ‘churnslists’ churn out !

I think the club know Abada wants away and that is why 2 right wingers are being brought in. Tilio and Jun have been linked and by accounts bids accepted. Work permit for Tilio and getting Jun in the summer instead of after his clubs season seem to ne the issues at the moment.

I think Celtic would want 10-12 million for Abada.
