Given a week’s break from the Norwegian League campaign Odin Thiago Holm wouldn’t have been the only player heading south for a couple of days of Balearic sunshine.
A few days switched off from the rigours of training, time poolside or even showing off ball skills on the beach can be easily justified, return to Valerenga refreshed and rejuvenated for the fixtures ahead.
Holm had a slightly different purpose to his break in Mallorca. Last week as Celtic fans were fretting over the state of negotiations to find a new manager Holm was holding face to face talks ahead of becoming Brendan Rodgers first signing.
The full picture emerged today with Rodgers telling the Celtic website:
He is a player who has been in the club’s scouting and recruitment system for some time.
I have looked at him closely and believe he is someone who can make a big impact at the club.
I have spent time already with Odin, he is an ambitious, exciting young player and I know he is delighted to be joining us.
He is a great addition to the quality squad we already have and we really look forward to working with him.

With the Norwegian league season starting on April 10 the new bhoy should be out in front at Celtic’s pre-season training.
Rodgers is already inheriting a fully stocked midfield but with a fee of £2.3m Holm will clearly be expected to make an early impact on the Treble winners.
