Total waste of time- Chris Sutton’s message to Green Brigade

Chris Sutton isn’t offering any sympathy or understanding to the Green Brigade over the return of Brendan Rodgers to Celtic.

Soon after Monday’s announcement the Ultras group tweeted an image of their banner protest at Tynecastle in February 2019 with media groups quick to pick up on that reaction.

It seems that most Celtic fans are pleased to get the best man for the job following Ange Postecoglou’s departure although the events of 2019 have left a scar.

Sutton takes a pragmatic view on virtually everything, addressing Rodgers’ return in the Daily Record he said:

It looks like not everyone is fully on board with Brendan Rodgers coming back to Celtic when you look at the snippy response from the Green Brigade.

They are not shy about coming forward and voicing their opinions and reappointing the former manager seems to have gone down like a lead balloon with some of them. They’ve made their feelings known – and they can do what they like – but I will ask them this: what is the point? What are they going to achieve with negativity at a time when the club would be pulling together after Ange Postecoglou’s departure?

Celtic are the Treble winners and the dominant team in Scotland. They have also gone out and got the best possible man for the job in replacing the Aussie. The petted-lip routine from some is a total waste of time. If the Celtic board are going to back Rodgers with a big chequebook to make the side even better – then they should give their backing as well. I just don’t get the point of backlash. It was okay to be critical when Rodgers departed last time. Listen, I was critical as well and stand by that criticism.

It looks like the Green Brigade are in a small minority with their thoughts on Rodgers, this afternoon the ‘new’ manager will go in front of the media to spell out his plans for the club.

There are bound to be questions about his departure for Leicester but the Irishman is a master of these issues and will be well prepared on how to project matters forward rather than raking over the past.

We lost the league partially due to empy stadiums during lockdown. The Celtic support has been recognised for decades as our 12th man.
I hope that the Green Brigades antics are finished and they get properly behind Rodgers and the team.
You see, we’ve got to beat their 12th man…the Lanarkshire Mason of the week. Not to mention the orange VAR officials.
    Here we go 10 in a row….

I’ve argued this since Rogers left,This is a professional game and we employ a manager not a spouse. It’s just a business don’t take it personal and support the team, the same applies to the players

  • Dave says:

Give Brendan the support he needs.

Support the team at all times.

Brendan only left due to the players signed by LawWell, Brendan did not ask for LawWells players.

LaWwell was trying to make his sell on bonus and failed.

The players Brendan wanted were overlooked by Lawell for a few pennies more.

In simple terms LaWwell lost Brendan, he then hired cheap option Lennon, The LL partnership then gave the league to The Rangers and forfeited 10 in a row, we know what happened during that season.

LawWell is the man at fault not Brendan, take your venom out on Lawell who was more interested in personal profit before the team.

This is my opinion and I stand by it.

Think John McGinn was the final straw with Brendan.
If they ain’t happy and want to put a dampener at the games just politely go away as there are plenty of people who will gladly have your season books.

  • Pan says:

The Green Brigade are of the opinion that they are more important than all the other Celtic fans. Unfortunately the club and various managers and players have encouraged this view.
