Moi Elyounoussi isn’t ruling out a return to Celtic.

The winger has just completed his Southampton contract which included two successful loan spells at Celtic.

With Brendan Rodgers expected to be confirmed as manager there could be renewed interest in Elyounoussi who is in the Norway squad to face Scotland tonight.

Viaplay: Would you rule out ever going back?

Moi: We’ll see, we’ll see. I enjoyed my time there, I didn’t get much time to play with the fans, most of it was without the fans. Yes, I mean I enjoyed my time there so you never know.

Elyounoussi scored eight goals in 22 appearances before injury and lockdown brought his first season to an end, during the horrific 20/21 season he scored 17 times including a first-half double away to Lille that looked like producing a spectacular Europa League win only for Celtic to concede two goals midway through the second half.

As a free agent Elyounoussi is in a very powerful position to negotiate his own terms but having had a taste of Celtic he might be interested to hear from Rodgers- if he is announced as manager.

Would you want him back, Joe?

Editor: Unsure, can certainly play but two years since he left, we are now used to very high quality, high scoring wingers.

I personally wouldn’t want him back.
He was injured too often and, even when fit, he was hardly a game changer.
I can’t ever remember walking out a stadium and thinking “Wow he’s a player.”
I remember he played well in a semifinal, I think against Hibs.
Ultimately if you’re paying that amount go for Dembele.
    He’s free.

Not sure he would be viable in terms of EPL-level wages over the length of contract he would want (probably 4 years), with no resale value, as I don’t think he would keep any of our current first team starters out of the line-up. Also agree with the previous poster regarding picking Dembele over him for the ‘marquee’ signing but I seem to recall he and Brendan had a bit of a disagreement leading to his departure, with subsequent events largely vindicating Dembele…..

“We’ve got about a million wingers already, and we don’t need another one” as somebody once said.

  • Kevin Dunne says:

Wouldn’t be worst decision from player or club
