There was a time when Gary Keown valued winning the SPFL Premiership title as more than a domestic trinket.
As recently as 2020 the Daily Mail columnist claimed that winning the SPFL title would be a greater achievement than winning the Champions League.
Steven Gerrard never won the EPL title during his playing career, there were a few near misses and slip ups but the biggest prize in the English game proved evasive for the Liverpool skipper.
The highlight of Gerrard’s career came in 2005 when Liverpool won the Champions League against AC Milan. Also-rans in the EPL Liverpool were 3-0 down at half-time, rescued the game then won the trophy on penalties.
It is probably the most celebrated trophy win in Liverpool’s history. Just three years ago however Keown explained how Gerrard could eclipse that triumph.
Interesting take from Gary Keown who says Rodgers was a failure (sic!) at Celtic as little success in European competition, domestic success means nothing!
Yet, apparently Gerrard winning the league title with Sevco greater than Liverpool’s European Cup win! ? pic.twitter.com/irkYCRJJ1O

Today, with Brendan Rodgers expected to return to Celtic the SPFL title is now of little consequence.
Perhaps two years of parties on the Trongate have got to Keown, despite raising the bar to a world record eighth domestic treble there is absolutely no sign of Celtic fans growing tired of celebrating trophy wins.
Rodgers failed at Celtic last time ,? my goodness , this is what journalism is now.

Embarrassing nonsense which shows how some people can’t hide their bias in this Country.
7 out of 7 trophies, I’ll take that failure all over again. ???

Your idea of success is a serial loser of a captain who’s won 2 major trophies in 6(7?) seasons. Deemed so successful he’s made into a so called HOF.
If we had a HOF riddled with losers lie that, we’d be embarrassed and hounding our board to get out.

Poor bastard is so bitter and I love it.
The editor is even more to blame for allowing it to be printed.
I don’t read moronic newspaper columnists anyway (and certainly not in the Daily Mail), but one look at his big fat pus and his blue shirt leaves even the occasional the reader in no doubt at all where this bitter old boozebag’s loyalties lie. The denizens of Planet Hun must be in terrible fear of what lies ahead….
I can remember when a Hun sneered and called the League Cup
“The Wee Cup”.
Well, they haven’y won it yet, have they?
So at least wait until you’ve won at least one, before you decry it!
