Mark Hendry is certainly putting in the hours during the transfer window.

At 1.52am he was on his Twitter account with an update on Celtic’s interest in Maik Nawrocki, with the Celtic nerve centre eight hours ahead in Japan it can be a round-the-clock hob to keep on top of stories.

After 24 hours of speculation about the extent of Celtic’s interest in Nawrocki word emerged from Poland last night that not only had the defender missed Legia Warsaw’s match at home to LSK Lodz but he had arrived in Glasgow earlier in the day to complete his move to Celtic.

That detail was confirmed by Hendry in his early Saturday morning tweet.

It seems that most of the detail on this story is coming from Poland where Legia look set to bring in double the fee that they collected from Celtic for Josip Juranovic two years ago.

Uncertainty over the return of Cameron Carter-Vickers from injury has highlighted the need for Brendan Rodgers to strengthen his central defence.

During his first spell in charge of Celtic Rodgers largely work with central defenders that were already at the club with Erik Sviatchenko, Jozo Simunovic, Dedryk Boyata and Kris Ajer the regular selections after some emergency back-up from Kolo Toure in the first few months of the 2016/17 season.
