The mad, mad wacky world of Craig Moore

The echo chamber of the Scottish media bubble has been in overdrive this summer.

From the moment that Celtic clinched the title the slate was wiped clean with momentum swinging massively towards Micky Beale and his Revolution.

Put mildly the 23/24 SPFL title is Beale’s to lose!

Every message out of Ibrox has been strong and positive, across the city Celtic are imploding, one pre-season defeat away from the cracked crest being rolled out.

Losing five players that helped win the 20/21 Behind Closed Doors title without a single transfer fee coming in is a bold break from the past by Mister Beale.

Signing up three free agents, paying transfer fees for two strikers fresh from being relegated and getting another relegated striker in on loan are impressive statements, signs of intent and lapped up by Gullible & Deluded, plus the bears that pollute social media.

Craig Moore is typical of the breed. Part-time agent, part-time pundit, full-time cheerleader. 99% of the time he can be relied upon to spread the message with bells and whistles. Much like Barry Ferguson, Kenny Miller, Richard Foster (nee MacDonald), Neil McCann, Cammy Bell, Rory Loy and the bit part players on the bandwagon.

Now and then, maybe twice a season, usually straight after a defeat from Celtic or Champions League hammering Moore will admit that it is desperate times at Ibrox but after a slip they will quickly be back on script.

During April, after four months of outstanding training sessions from Micky Beale they watched his side fold in three vital matches- losing twice to Celtic and once against Aberdeen.

Handed the chance to win a trophy by Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Beale went into the League Cup Final with Glen Kamara and John Lundstram in his Starting XI. Perhaps he should have stuck with bibs and cones?

That decision elevated Nico Raskin and Todd Cantwell to Balon d’Or levels. Or next time as James Tavernier calls it.

Raskin and Cantwell started those three defeats in April that killed off Beale’s hopes of a first ever trophy in management.

Turning on the style once the trophies were gone has been gone enough to excite The People all through the summer.

Just like last summer when Ben Davies, Antonio Colak, Ridvan Yilmaz, Tom Lawrence, John Souttar and Rabbi Matondo were added to Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Europa League Finalists.

Meanwhile, two weeks before the Champions League Third Round qualifier, Borna Barisic, Lundstram, Kemar Roofe, Glen Kamara and Scott Wright are still draining the wage bill.
