Nick Walsh will referee Saturday’s SPFL opener between Celtic and Ross County.

The PE teacher probably attained Number 1 status in Scotland last season by being handed two of the six Glasgow derbies with Celtic winning 4-0 in September and then taking the Viaplay Cup at Hampden in February.

In total Walsh took charge of seven Celtic matches last season including the opening day win over Aberdeen when goals from Stephen Walsh and Jota settled the points.

So far this season he has only taken charge of one match, a Viaplay Cup tie between St Johnstone and Ayr United.

Saturday’s early kick-off gives Celtic the chance to get off to a flying start in the campaign with Sky Sports covering the fixture.

Chris Sutton has replaced Andy Walker in the gantry which should make their coverage of Scottish football much more watchable for hoops supporters.

Greg Aitken will be on VAR duty, CLICK HERE for all of Saturday’s appointments.

that cabal in black are sevco’s agents on the pitch !!

  • Clara says:

And will continue to be as long as Celtic and the other SPL Teams stay quiet about it.

    • bertie basset says:

too true , my thoughts exactly !!

    • TicToc says:

Absolutely Bertie/Clara. Celtic FC has had PLC-minded Lawwell far too much involved in ALL of the cheating. It suits the suits! Mamon. Desmond is a leech, not a benefactor nor a Tim. Just an Irish parasite. Desmond and Lawwell leech of us and always have done.
On another note, we played, except for CCV, Daizen and Kyogo a rather poor 1st half. The fukking about around our penalty box is shocking and HAS cost us and WILL cost us more if it continues. Great to see a win tonight with a very good 2nd half. Bilbao are a decent team and we gave them BOTH their goals tonight and still beat them.
WTF is gleaned from these games goes way over my head, but if Brendan’s aided in doing so I’m absolutely fine with it.
I’m a consistent , long-time supporter of the GB but thought tonight was churlish.
As far as I know we had 3 strong options for manager. The Man City guy had no management pedigree, just 2nd in command and manager/failure at Parma. The other guy from Bodo Glimt, I honestly can’t remember why but didn’t think he was The Mhan.
Brendan then, Brendan now was my 1st choice and I hope TF I was right.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Oh Bloody Hell – That ugly picture of these ugly minded ‘people’ is back…

I was looking forward to the season starting again after two months of basking in a world record 8th treble – until I seen that pic and all the filthy cheating that’s coming down the pipe in Celtic’s direction !

  • Bob (original) says:

Must be frustrating for most SPL managers,

when they spend the summer trying to improve their squads,

and try to improve their players and tactics,

…to then start another season in full knowledge that our ‘top’ referees

will still be as bad – if not worse – than last season!

There’s a very good reason why neither FIFA nor UEFA want our refs at their

    Finals tournaments.

    • TicToc says:

Bob, I think you mean well but maybe miss the bigger plot.
The huns in black don’t just favour any old shite from Ibrox (which would hurt the other SPFL teams) but they also cheat us openly, even with VAR, and that HELPS the other SPFL teams. Get it? The other teams come out even from this. Or should I extrapolate?

  • Si says:

I’m going to predict that we’re in for the worst cheating in Scottish football history and last season was at farcical levels.

It won’t take us long to know.

Sorry, but the Celtic board have to take full blame if I’m correct.

Their working quietly in the background, clearly isn’t working therefore to keep doing the same and expecting a different outcome is insanity. The cheating is escalating and the stakes are rising and Sevco are all in.

Celtic, you have a duty to protect supporters and shareholders. If Sevco again have by far the highest penalties with the least conceded and highest sent off opponents then the evidence would be enough for a murder conviction.

I’d warn the SFA in advance and when it materialises Celtic go public. I’d also employ a former referee to be building a dossier. Enough is enough it’s getting farcical!

Editor: You won’t get a word of complaint out of Celtic while those involved in 2012 are still lurking around the boardroom. Steven McLean at the 2015 Scottish Cup semi-final exposed our spineless leaders.

    • Andra Chie says:

Yes for sure there will be a massive cheating operation to ensure that celtic do not overturn the 117 mythical trophies rangers have i can sense it already guaranteed the rangers get a penalty at rugby park.

    • TicToc says:

Si, with all of their disgusting guile and feral cheating, they haven’t stopped us much recently. We’ve got a squad that will CRUSH ‘them’.
Instead of putting ‘scary’ words on here, why not look at our recent history, gloat a wee bit and then send a letter to the LRA and BBC highlighting what your observations/concerns are. That’s what I do.
We’ll BREAK those baztards eventually, but only if we all act in concert and demand the truth from both.
