Celtic will be without Oh Hyeon-gyu until after the the September international break.

The striker picked up a calf knock during the second half of last week’s friendly against Athletic Bilbao but remained in the squad for the SPFL opener at home to Ross County.

On Sunday Oh reported a calf issue to the Celtic medical team, after undergoing scans he won’t be back involved until next month.

Let’s look at your team are there any doubts in terms of injuries?

No, although Oh has picked up a bit of a knock and he’s probably going to be out for a few weeks. He did recognise that he had it and he played through it for a few days. He has a slight problem with his calf but apart from that they are all fine. Some of the boys who are just coming back are doing well in their rehabilitation but they are not quite ready yet. Other than that the squad will be the same.

Oh’s absence leaves Kyogo Furuhashi as the only natural striker available to Brendan Rodgers, although there are no midweek fixtures this month it does limit the variations that the returning manager can try out.

Daizen Maeda scored a first half hat-trick in the pre-season friendly against Yokohama F Marinos but has played almost exclusively on the left wing for Celtic.

With Jota sold to Al Ittihad there aren’t many other options on the left. Despite the squad size it seems that two key positions are light on options.

At today’s media conference Rodgers was giving little away when questioned on transfer activity other than to admit that he expects players to be bought and sold before the window closes on August 31.
