Celtic have confirmed that Bosun Lawal has joined Fleetwood Town on loan after signing a contract extension.
The defender has spent the last two seasons playing in the Lowland League and will now join Scott Brown’s League One side who already have Adam Montgomery on loan.
With Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke joining Celtic in the last few weeks it is clear that Lawal wouldn’t be getting close to any first team action.
?? Bosun Lawal has signed a new contract at the Club which sees the defender extend his stay at #CelticFC until 2026!
As part of his development, Bosun has now joined Fleetwood Town on a season-long loan for the 2023/24 campaign ?
Best of luck, Bosun! ?

Getting out on loan gives the defender real life experience, playing in front of decent sized crowds twice a week, alongside and against seasoned professionals battling for bonuses rather than a purely development environment.
It could be argued that such a move should have been made a year ago rather than spending a second season in the fifth/sixth tier of Scottish football.
After a mid-table finish last season Brown will be under a little bit of pressure at Fleetwood with just one point picked up from their first three matches.
Montgomery has still to make an appearance, after losing 3-1 away to Bolton on Tuesday Fleetwood have another tough fixture at the weekend when they travel to Derby County.
Should have gone on loan to another Scottish team rather than Fleetwood. He needs 1 more year to qualify as home grown which with this loan he will probably not get now, which begs the question if he has any future at the club?
Think he’s already done his 3 years now so should be qualified by my reckoning, but stand to be corrected if wrong
Signed in 2021 so just 2 years at the club
Decent Crowds twice a week would be Fleetwood’s Away games then!
Brown seems to be treading water there, much as he did at Aberdeen.
Signing two Celtic prospects would seem to show a lack of imagination.
A year in Purguatory would be the favourable option me thinks?
Very sensible move by the club.
Should help develop lawal and Monty to see if they can challenge Taylor and Welsh for a place in next season CL squad.
Delighted to see our potential players of the future getting a better development route than what Scotland has on offer for them at present.
Will also help see just how good Scott Brown can be to ourselves in the development process also, especially with being tipped as a future celtic manager at some stage also.
Plenty to be pleased about at such news
