Anthony Joseph has tweeted that Rocco Vata looks likely to be leaving Celtic on a permanent basis.

There has been a contract stand off since the turn of the year, when he recently switched agency to CAA Base it looked increasingly like his future would be away from Celtic.

Celtic won’t let Vata go out on loan to experience first team football without signing a new deal, the winger won’t sign up without having assurances over where his career is heading.

Bosun Lawal, Ben Summers and Ben McPherson signed contract extensions before going out on loan but it seems that Vata will be leaving on a permanent basis.

Vata has been one of Celtic’s top prospects coming through the ranks, starting in the B team playing in the Lowland League and being a regular soon after his 16th birthday.

Now facing a third season at that same level, after four substitute appearances for the first team last season he looks set to cut his ties with Celtic.

Surely it would be a better idea to keep this promising home-grown player and let one of the foreign players who have turned out to be duffers go for the sake of ticking UEFA’s CL requirement boxes? Get him on the subs’ bench every game and get him minutes. His presence in the squad is more to our benefit than having some wage thief give us nothing…

Another Anthony Joseph exclusive eh!!, It’s all guess work and I’m pretty sure Celtic know what they are doing with the lad and his contract negotiations. Mr Joseph is hardly a reliable source, his strike ratio is about 1 in 10, even I could match that. Trust the Management team, they are no mugs!!
