Holmes Miller have published stunning images of the proposed redevelopment of Celtic’s Barrowfield Training Ground.
Despite the grand plans and opening of Lennoxtown in 2007 the site between London Road and the River Clyde has remained very much active for a variety of Celtic teams.
Talk about redeveloping Barrowfield have surfaced from time to time but nothing as detailed as the plans from Miller Holmes that would transform the complex.
As it stands there is a changing rooms area behind the Celtic Supporters Association Social Club leading out to a variety of grass and synthetic pitches and training areas.
Asked about a ‘Delia Dome’ in October 2016 Brendan Rodgers told the Daily Record:
You do need it. If you have the facility to do that up here, or the finances, I think you should. You can work all year and do great work but then the weather sets in. That’s the big advantage the Europeans have over us.
You lose your coaching. You might go through three or four months, losing time, because it’s not about coaching, it’s about keeping the players warm.
Building a full size indoor pitch down towards the river with a mini-stadium hosting a small stand would provide year round guaranteed training facilities and a home ground for the Ladies and B team to use rather than hiring the Airdrie Stadium from season to season.
Ronny Deila and Brendan Rodgers have both highlighted the need for a full size indoor training arena, it looks like those wishes could be moving closer but everything is dependent on funding with no price put against the new look complex.

Just do it already Celtic!
I thought I was costed at £4.5M before the pandemic although now the figures quoted are £20M.
Something isn’t right if those two quotes are so radically different even allowing for a rise in building materials.
Once again though the question must be asked: what are we doing with the vast cash reserves we have.
As posted earlier on another blog Mr McVittie(aka LIEWELL)is back with his biscuit tin mentality any money not spent on players is all the more to be shared out with the board and the manager,that’s if he sees the season out,I reckon he will be gone again before the season is out.
He will definitely be gone if Sevco sneak The League Scud (cheats with whistles and monitors or not)…
We can only pray (not for Lawwell’s sake) but because of the ramifications of that scenario going forward that Sevco do not prevail !
