Liam Bonetig has resumed his career at Western City Wanderers II after a spell on trail with Celtic’s B team in pre-season.

The 18-year-old defender featured in matches against Fraserburgh, Sligo Rovers and Alloa Athletic.

Neither Celtic or Western Sydney Wanderers made any comment on the trial spell but on August 20 Bonetig was back in action against Mount Druitt Town in the New South Wales NPL.

Completing the season with Western Sydney Wanderers might be the option with Celtic looking again in the new year at the central defender.

With Ewan Otoo joining Dunfermline and Dylan Corr going to Raith Rovers there has been a new look to the Celtic defence playing in the Lowland League.

Celtic’s recent injury problems in central defence could have resulted in call ups from the B team but Bosun Lawal is on loan at Fleetwood Town with Dane Murray out injured.
