Kris Boyd hits the Celtic defence with low blow

Kris Boyd has taken a pop at the makeshift Celtic defence that emerged from the Glasgow Derby with a clean sheet.

While Micky Beale threw on big money signings from the bench Brendan Rodgers turned to Tony Ralston and Alexandro Bernabei to join Liam Scales and Gustaf Lagerbielke.

That back four is almost the definition of makeshift but they restricted chances to a minimum with Joe Hart a commanding presence in goal as Celtic held on to Kyogo Furuhashi’s first half goal to take full points from Ibrox.

Since the final whistle blew there has been a full on attack on all things Beale with Boyd involved in the post match analysis from Sky Sports.

Famously during his long record breaking playing career the former Rangers and Kilmarnock striker only managed to score one goal against Celtic.

Whatever the defensive combination put out by successive Celtic managers they had little danger keeping Boyd quiet but looking at Sunday’s action the veteran feels that he could have solved a problem for Beale.

In The Sun he explains:

There is actually not a lot to separate the two teams as Beale keeps reminding us.

I agree with him yet Celtic keep coming out on top and that’s all that matters.

They were there for the taking at the weekend. Even I would have fancied myself to score against that back four. Only James Tavernier and a fit Kemar Roofe look like scoring right now.

Given all the money spent on attacking reinforcements that is a sad indictment. Once again Cyriel Dessers, Sam Lammers and Danilo all failed to deliver.

Beale will have to survive until the end of the year to get another crack at defeating Celtic in a meaningful match.

Aye he’d score even at his old age of 40 or whatever he is…

He’s been sarcastic but still that Liebrox egotistical mental mania still seeps through to the core –

I’ll never know just what it is that that effects people that have been in employment there when they leave the building but my goodness normality it certainly ain’t !

  • the maister says:

So, he would have played himself then? And fancied himself to score!
Maybe he just fancies himself all the time. But to score, there is no evidence to substantiate that! Except an Old Man’s dreams, maybe!
