Manuel Pellegrini has dropped a strong hint that he has been offered the chance to manage in Glasgow.

The legendary Chilean boss is in charge of Real Betis tonight at Ibrox and can call on 25 years of experience in management.

Spells managing Real Madrid and Manchester City are the highlights on his CV while surviving three seasons in La Liga in the current climate is a pretty decent achievement.

Recently turned 70 he discussed his involvement with Scottish football, covering that The Scotsman reports the Betis boss saying:

I had the chance to come here not only as a manager and I also came to watch Celtic v Rangers when I was in England as a coach. It is great football with great fans.

Having managed since 1998 there has been various changes at Celtic covering Pellegrini’s time in management where he might have been approached.

That ship certainly looks to have sailed but it seems that at some stage Pellegrini could have been in the home dug-out at Celtic Park.

I’m happy enough with Brendan and hopefully he’s ultra successful for a good while by which time Manual will be too old…

But Best Wishes to him and his team at Liebrox tonight !

No doubt Pelligrini would have sussed Lawwell double quick, no chance he would have joined Celtic.

I wonder if Manual and our ‘head’ of scouting ever crossed paths at Manchester City !
