Celtic will start today’s match at Ibrox with just one change to the side that kicked off the 0-0 draw with St Johnstone. Liel Abada replaces Yang Hyun-jun on the right wing.

Nat Phillips was signed in midweek on loan from Liverpool but doesn’t make the matchday squad leaving the hoops to rely on the new look defence of Gustaf Lagerbielke and Liam Scales.

Luis Palma does make it onto the bench, alongside Oh Hyeon-gyu and Yuki Kobayashi with James Forrest, Kwon Hyeok-kyu and Tomoki Iwata missing out. Only Tony Ralston of the outfield substitutes were at Celtic before June 2022.

Although Celtic go into the match a point ahead the squad is massively weakened from the one that drew 2-2 at Ibrox in November.

Cameron Carter-Vickers, Carl Starfelt, Reo Hatate and Jota are all missing as Brendan Rodgers samples the fixture for the first time since December 2018.

Don Robertson will referee his second Glasgow Derby with Alan Muir on VAR, Steven McLean will be the fourth official.

After today Celtic are next in action at home to Dundee on September 16.

CELTIC: Hart; Johnston, Lagerbielke, Scales, Taylor; McGregor, O’Riley, Turnbull; Abada, Kyogo, Maeda

SUBS: Bain, Palma, Yang, Holm, Kobayashi, Oh, Kwon, Bernabei, Ralston

If O’Reilly, Turnbull or any other Celtic player are wearing pink boots at Ibrox, then Brendan Rodgers has forgotten that he was
    “Born Into The Celtic Family”.
    Sorry!

  • Scud Missile says:

I don’t hold out much hope for us with that line up.

I see on the blog from the man across the water he has had a go at someone who posted a comment on Stubbs not revealing who the ref was that would never give a penalty to Celtic.
The blogger goes on to call the guy a coward for hiding behind a keyboard without using his name, funny that because the same blogger is using the same tactics when he shoves a story out there about the klan klub from Ibrox and him receiving this information from a well placed source inside ibrox.
Now is the person from inside Ibrox a coward as well because the so called blogger ain’t giving his name to anyone just like Stubbs isn’t.

  • HC Andersen says:

Well done Celtic – against all the odds as well.
Scud – oh ye of little faith as someone once said?
Hail hail what a beautiful Sunday.

That’s a great result today at that midden and with none of our supporters present.
Kyogo took his goal in absolute style and not many have the technique to score from that excellent, but very difficult, forward ball.
The 2 CBs, with one or two scares, were really good, all things considered.
I thought Maeda was absolutely outstanding, all over the pitch and showing his toughness as well as his skill. Just brilliant and WHAT an ‘engine’!
I’d have to say Don Robertson had me in awe as he refereed, in general, fairly.
That’s a BIG result today and Brendan now has some time to work with our new recruits and, once the injuries clear up (if that ever happens at CP?), he’ll know our best match-day squad for each game.
COME ON YOU BHOYS IN GREEN!
