The stats that highlight Scotland’s secret shame

The antics of Alan Muir, Willie Collum and Nick Walsh over the last week have highlighted some very strange issues, unique to Scottish football.

Tomorrow against Aberdeen with Steven McLean in the middle similar patterns are anticipated.

It is now 61 SPFL matches covering three seasons since a penalty was awarded against the Ibrox club.

Kevin Clancy pointed to the penalty spot in a match at Aberdeen, Lewis Ferguson scored what proved to be an equaliser with a letter of complaint to the SFA leaked to Sky Sports.

Since then the great and the good in Crawford Allan’s contact book have delivered a remarkable run of consistent results.

Over seven full seasons Celtic have had two and a half times as many penalties awarded against them than the Ibrox club despite winning the title in six of those seasons.

In terms of penalties awarded there isn’t so much of an anomaly between the top two clubs although Celtic have outscored heavily in six of those seasons.

Over the last 18 months it is impossible to make any sort of case to justify the pattern with penalty decisions, especially with VAR getting close to 12 months in operation.

Across Europe a club with a 10-0 penalty record would win the league by a distance, one with a 7-7 record would likely finish in mid season.

Fortunately for Ian Maxwell and his chum Allan not a single club has called for transparency with the broadcasting of VAR conversations or even an image and explanation to explain every VAR decision.

You would think that in a game where sevco was comfortably winning,

by say 3 or 4 goals, the ref would award a soft penalty to the opposition

if only to improve the ‘statistically significant deviation’ involving sevco and penalties

    conceded?

It just feels like it’s been an open secret in Scottish football for years now,

and The Scottish Referees’ Association members are just taking the p!ss.

Are they running a book to see how long they can keep the ‘penalty-free’ streak

    going at Ibrox?

It would be funny, if wasn’t so shameful for the SFA – and for my own club for remaining

    so quiet / submissive…? 🙁

Lol more pushing and shoving players off the ball tomorrow all to the advantage of sevco, throw in a couple of penalties as well just for good measure.

GUARANTEED CONTROVERSIAL decisions tomorrow without a murmur from the media or the other 11 clubs in the league.

The new klub can’t afford to drop anymore points in the league not at this stage of the season as Bennett and Co still sesrch or put feelers out to get Beale his compo which is ongoing, only then will he be gone,so 3 points all the way tomorrow for the new klub at all costs.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Even the media man looks like he wants to jump in The Clyde like the refs !
