Brendan Rodgers turned up at St Roch’s this afternoon as a Celtic Legends side helped celebrate the belated Centenary of the famous Junior club.
Back in 1922 Celtic signed a bustling young striker from the Rock, he went on to become the club’s all-time leading scorer with one of his successors putting in an appearance at James McGrory Park this afternoon.
Willie Haughey, John Clark and Tommy McIntyre were in charge of the Legends but were happy to take a back seat as Rodgers turned up to lend a hand.

Neil Lennon, Tosh McKinlay, Frank McAvennie, Bobby Petta, John Hughes and Rudi Vata were in the Legends side with the match sold out weeks ago.
Rodgers had been enjoying a quick break in Mallorca but flew back today as he prepares for a hectic schedule of matches.
Next Sunday he’ll be at Tynecastle to take on Hearts with just 561 Celtic fans allowed to back the team, that is quickly followed by facing Atletico Madrid in the Champions League followed by a return trip to the capital to take on Hibs to complete a very hectic seven days.
Brings back memories for me ! When I was 11 at the start of the seventies I stayed with my granny in Germiston about 5 minutes from St Roch’s park . I used to go to some weekend and midweek games in the Summertime and was a great all round experience . Those were the days of Dom Sullivan and a few others . I think the entry fee back then was 50 p if memory serves …happy times and hard games !
